Code of Conduct

ARNPRIOR HOMESCHOOL-ED STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT AND EXPECTATIONS Parents and Students to Please Read 1. Refrain from any careless, unkind, reckless, or rude behaviour. 2. Let the command to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," be your guide as it pertains to speech, conduct and one another's property. 3. Participate to the best of one's ability in all classes and contexts, including inside the classroom, when outside, or for off-site events. 4. Keep personal items that are not appropriate for Arnprior Homeschool-Ed at home. A few examples of such items are gaming devices, off-topic media, etc. Any violation of this rule may result in an item being confiscated and held until a parent retrieves it. 5. In order to prioritize the program goals of socializing with peers and developing relationships, we request that students not use cell phones, iPads, or personal electronic devices during class time or lunch/snack break. Electronic devices should not be shared with other students. Any violation of this rule may result in an item being confiscated and held until a parent retrieves it. 6. For our Drop-Off program, if a student needs to contact a parent by phone, the student is to come and speak with the Homeschool-Ed directors first, who can facilitate an appropriate time and space to call. 7. Contribute to the take-down and clean-up of our classrooms at the end of the day in order to help leave it in good condition. 8. Although we encourage children to form meaningful friendships, we ask that all interactions remain appropriate, respectful, and mindful of healthy boundaries with peers and other aged children. 9. While we do not require participants to engage in religious or spiritual practices, we ask all families to respect the values, purpose and environment of Arnprior Homeschool-Ed. Regarding our student conduct policy, the course of action will be as follows: 1. First occurrence: Speak to the student about any questionable behaviours or choices and provide direction regarding appropriate conduct. 2. Second occurrence: Notify the parent via email or phone if warranted. 3. Further occurrences: If a problem persists, the student may be asked to leave, and the parents contacted to pick them up. This would only happen if a student blatantly disregards the concerns and direction given by a teacher, directors or supervisor. The student can later return to the program at the discretion of the program directors. Attendance and Accountability Students will not be allowed to come or go at will and will be expected to remain in the building once they have reported in for the day. Students who have fulfilled their attendance requirements for the day are expected to promptly leave the site by whatever means their parents have arranged. Exceptions will be made when parental permission is communicated to one of the Directors either in person, by written consent, or by phone. Also, note that it is not possible for students to occasionally bring friends for the day. The RVHEA's insurance covers only the students enrolled in the Arnprior Homeschool-Ed program. Thank you for your cooperation!
